Job summary

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a PRN administrative assistant to support an assigned clinical area in Detroit. The role involves greeting patients, answering inquiries, scheduling appointments, routing calls, and handling clerical tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
  • Preferred use of administrative skills in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, visitors, and new admissions.
  • Answers general inquiries and schedules patients for appointments.
  • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls.
  • Performs general clerical duties including filing, email correspondence, and mail distribution.
  • Creates various reports and documents as assigned.
  • Helps patients/residents with basic technology and social media.
  • Communicates with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care.
  • Performs unit safety checks and assists with meeting patient needs; escalates as appropriate.
  • May assist with meals, passing and collecting trays, activities, and transport.
  • May stock supplies and keep unit and patient rooms clean and orderly.
  • May maintain staff schedules and timekeeping as assigned

  • May assist with stocking supplies and keeping unit and patient rooms clean and orderly.
  • May maintain staff schedules and timekeeping as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
