Job description


Department: Float Pool


Location: Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, 6777 W Maple Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48322


Schedule: 36hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation


Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3x12 hours shifts)



Are you passionate about patient care and looking to grow in a dynamic, supportive healthcare environment? As a Float Nurse Assistant, you'll gain valuable experience working across avariety of units, providing care where it's needed most. In this vital role, you'll support patient comfort, safety, and well-being under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). You'll assist with essential care tasks while making a meaningful impact on the overall patient experience.



WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Your day-to-day impact includes:



  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.

  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.

  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.

  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.




EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:



  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).

  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.

  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license

  • Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).

  • At least one (1) year of experience in an Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.

  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred



CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:



  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.

  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.

  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
