Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Nurse Assistant for the Float Pool in Michigan. The position supports patient-centered care under RN supervision, performing day-to-day activities and maintaining a therapeutic environment.

Shift is nights, 7pm to 7:30am, with 72 hours biweekly and weekends working. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, providing compassionate care to patients and families, ensuring HIPAA/OSHA compliance, and upholding infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required before start date and valid beyond start date.
• Formal education or training in medical careers or enrollment in nursing school or 2+ years in PCA/NA role required.
• Preferred CNA, EMT, or LPN credentials listed.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care interventions as delegated by the RN to help reach treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support to patients and families.
• Assists with daily activities and personal hygiene.
• Keeps environment safe and compliant with HIPAA/OSHA regulations.
• Maintains infection-control and safety policies.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Formal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR two or more years’ experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date

Preferred:

• State Certified Nursing Assistant
• Basic EMT Certification
• LPN License
