Henry Ford Health St. John Hospital in Detroit is offering a Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program.

You will train through a 3-week CNA course paid by HFHS, then complete a 1-week HFHS training before reporting to your unit as a Nurse Assistant Apprentice. The program requires a 1-year commitment to working full-time (36hrs per week, every other weekend and every other holiday) and is designed to develop patient-care skills under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must complete HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program recognized by the DOL and pass all testing.
• Must read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions.
• Strong interpersonal and customer skills to interact with diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to lift, carry, transfer and move clients when needed.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the RN or licensed clinician, performs patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs.
• Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
• Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Recognizes and participates in ongoing education.
• Follows Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence.
