Job summary

McLaren Health Care seeks a Nursing Assistant to support patient-centered care in the Ortho Trauma department. You will work under the direct supervision of a nurse, perform day-to-day patient care activities, and help maintain an environment conducive to patient well-being.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, providing compassionate support to patients and families, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA/OSHA and infection-control policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Specialized education options include: acute care nursing assistant, long term care nursing assistant, EMT, medical assistant, or clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred; if specialized education requirements are not met, at least six months of direct patient care experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Specialized education requirements, for those not meeting minimum six-month nursing assistance experience requirement, include:
  • acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions or
  • long term care nursing assistant course or
  • completion of an emergency medical technician program or
  • completion of medical assistant program or
  • completion of a clinical rotation while participating an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred. Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months is required when the specialized education requirements identified above has not been met
