Department:2ndFloor Rehab


Location:Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192


Schedule:36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation


Shift:7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (3x12 hours shifts)

As aNurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.



ABOUT OUR UNIT:


Our unit provides compassionate, patient-centered care with a focus on rehabilitation and recovery. We primarily serve a geriatric population but also care for individuals as young as 14, with no upper age limit. Our patients have diverse medical conditions, including stroke (CVA), traumatic brain injury (TBI), hip fractures, craniotomy, cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), and amputations. The average length of stay is approximately two weeks, providing a unique opportunity to build rapport with patients and their families as they recover.



WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Your day-to-day impact includes:



  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.

  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.

  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.

  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.





EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:



  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).

  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.

  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license

  • Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).

  • At least one (1) year of experience in an Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.



  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred



CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:



  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.

  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.

  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
