Job summary

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Nurse Apprentice for Med Surg on a part-time basis to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care under supervision.

You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care, maintaining a safe environment, and handling specimens with proper labeling. Utah Nurse Apprentice license and enrollment in the final nursing semester are required; prior CNA or Unit Secretary experience is a plus; BLS certification is expected.

Qualifications

• State of Utah Nurse Apprentice license.
• Must be starting the last semester of nursing school to obtain a nurse apprentice license.
• Previous CNA or Unit Secretary experience preferred.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nursing staff in providing patient care according to skills/training and department needs.
• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
• Obtain or assist in collection of specimens for diagnostic tests and ensure accurate labeling and timely transfer.
• Follow patient and employee safety/security policies, hand hygiene, universal precautions, PPE, and isolation procedures.
• Perform clerical work as needed (charts, filing, answering phones, relaying messages).

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Apprentice, you will deliver high quality, patient centered care in a variety of services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. In this role:

• You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance your skills/training and the needs of the department.

• You will consistently assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.

• You will obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests and ensure accuracy of all labels and a timely transfer of specimen.

• You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.

• You will perform clerical work as needed, including assembling and maintaining charts, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages.

What qualifications you will need:

• State of Utah Nurse Apprentice license

• You must be startingthelastsemesterofnursingschool to obtain a nurse apprentice license
