Administers anesthesia and anesthesia-related care in collaboration with anesthesiologists.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs pre- and post-anesthesia assessments on patients.
- Assembles supplies and equipment for anesthetic cases and checks them for safety and proper function.
- Stocks medication carts and anesthesia machines.
- Assists in expediting the operating room schedule by helping the anesthesiologist prepare patients for surgery.
- Sets up IV fluids for each patient in the pre-op holding area, labeling each with dates and times.
- Under direct medical supervision, performs general anesthesia, including airway management and all levels of sedation and monitored anesthesia care in an anesthetizing location.
- Assists in post-anesthesia care, including medicating patients as needed, managing fluids, respiratory weaning, and endotracheal extubation.
- Checks and orders supplies and medications as needed.

Job Qualifications
- Masters and/or Doctoral degree in a related field, required.
- Graduate from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), required.
- Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, required.
- Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) within one (1) year of graduating from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, required.
- American Heart Association BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, required.
