Job Summary

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is currently hiring qualified CRNA’s to work at our Main Campus in Boston, MA. This advanced practice position offers interested individuals the opportunity to develop their clinical skills with a dynamic anesthesia team in a large, academic medical center with a rich history and strong medical school affiliation.

Responsibilities

As a CRNA I, a board‑certified licensed clinician, you will provide anesthesia services to all patients in the organization. General responsibilities include reviewing patients' medical history, administering and managing anesthesia, and monitoring patients during the procedure or throughout the peri‑operative period. You will supply documentation of continued registration as a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).

At MGH, CRNAs work closely with anesthesiologists and are part of an integrated care team model. Our team offers exceptional leadership, comprehensive orientation and training, and regular check‑ins to support new graduates and ensure success in an acute, fast‑paced environment. Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s Degree Nurse Anesthesia Practitioner required.
  • Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – NBCRNA required; Mass Registered Nurse preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Experience: Experience as a CRNA or New Graduate 0‑1 year preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics and pharmacology as related to anesthesia.
    • Foreign language skills for patient population desired.
    • Demonstrates clinical competence within the scope of clinical practice standards set by the department.
    • Comfortable in a fast‑paced, dynamic, team‑based care setting; able to work independently and within a care team to deliver high quality care.
    • Effective interpersonal skills to work with surgeons and staff in a variety of cases and environments. Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
    • Ability to keep up with up‑to‑date best practices in the field of anesthesia.
    • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
    • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
    • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

Our CRNAs
  • Place IVs, A‑lines and central lines, and perform spinals, epidurals, fiberoptic intubations and occasional regional blocks.
  • Handle a wide variety of cases including trauma, burns, general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, vascular, thoracic, electrophysiology, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and pediatrics.
  • Collaborate with expert clinicians in the OR (providers, nurses and surgeons).
  • Some of our sites offer regional and cardiac anesthesia.
  • Work synergistically with our anesthesiologists in a care team model.
  • Gain access to the full scope of anesthesia practices and increased autonomy over time.
