Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services is seeking a Nurse Aide to provide direct resident care in a long-term or specialized care setting. This role focuses on supporting daily routines, safety, and well-being while adhering to care plans and infection control practices.

You will work 40 hours weekly, with shifts from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM; weekends and holidays may be required. A conditional offer includes medical examination and background checks as required by state law.

Job Overview

This position provides direct care and daily support to residents while assisting staff in maintaining a safe, clean, and encouraging environment. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Resident Care: Provide personal hygiene support, meet physical and emotional needs, and maintain safe living conditions
• Rehabilitation Support: Assist staff with restorative programs that help residents reach their highest potential
• Therapeutic Interaction: Use communication skills and crisis prevention techniques while advocating for residents
• Care Planning: Participate in team meetings, discuss treatment goals, and help maintain clean and sanitary conditions
• Daily Instruction: Teach residents basic tasks, assist with meals, and apply infection control techniques
• Status Communication: Report changes in resident condition or environment through verbal or written updates

Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM with a 30 minute lunch
  • Rotating on and off duty days.
  • Working weekends and holidays in accordance with assigned schedule.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement

• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Other Requirements

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
