Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Danville State Hospital is seeking a Psychiatric Aide to support individuals with daily living activities and well-being. You will work with a nursing team to provide safe, respectful care and participate in leisure and nursing programs.

The role requires completion of an Aide Trainee program or relevant experience, plus PA Nurse Aide certification. The position includes 2nd shift hours (2:45 PM–11:15 PM) with a $1.25/hour shift differential and rotating

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
• Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities.
• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Individual Care Support: Use individual-centered approaches to assist with personal care tasks and daily living activities.
• Health Monitoring: Take and record vital signs, observe changes, and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Mobility Assistance: Help individuals move safely, including positioning, ambulating, and escorting them to activities and appointments.
• Emergency Response: Provide basic first aid and assist during medical or psychiatric emergencies using approved procedures and techniques.
• Program Participation: Supervise and support individuals during leisure activities and nursing programs.
• Living Space Maintenance: Assist individuals with keeping living areas clean, organized, and safe.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with a $1.25 per hour shift differential and a 30-minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays as assigned. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime: As needed
• Telework: Y you will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or
• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
