Position Summary
The Nurse Aide in Training is responsible for providing routine daily nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The goal is to ensure patient safety and promote the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each patient, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Currently enrolled in a State-approved CNA program, capable of working for a consecutive period of four (4) months. After this period, the Nurse Aide in Training must meet certification requirements to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- CPR certification upon hire or during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult patients
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in a post-acute care facility
- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintain professional relationships with all staff and vendors
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
- Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training
Essential Functions
- Lift, turn, move, position, and transport patients under supervision
- Assist patients with baths, showers, grooming, feeding, and toileting under supervision
- Document and chart patient care accurately
- Respond promptly to call lights
- Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude
- Assist in patient evacuation
- Demonstrate dependable attendance
- Use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Perform physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and walking during work hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
- Lift and carry up to 35 lbs., and push/pull 35 lbs.
