Description

Overview:

Nurse Aide in Training is a program that allows employees to receive online and on-the-floor training as a Nurse Aide. Those who demonstrate good customer service, reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic will be eligible for Education Assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Education Assistance will be provided at NO COST through classes at a Regency location, a local community college or technical school, or an internship with a waiver to skip classes if the employee passes a skills check and practice exam.

What does a Nurse Aide and CNA do in skilled nursing?

The Nurse Aide and CNA work under the direction of Charge Nurses, providing residents with assistance for activities of daily living as outlined in the care plan. They must be compassionate, friendly, and enjoy helping others to provide the expected personal care.

Essential Functions

  • Provide residents with comfort and safety, detecting and reporting potential accidents or injuries.
  • Perform duties according to resident care policies and procedures.
  • Assist with bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake, hair and nails care, mobility, and transfers.
  • Log care provided into Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents' conditions.
  • Maintain care equipment and supplies.
  • Walk with ambulatory residents or push wheelchairs as needed.
  • Perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting over 50 pounds with accommodations.
  • Respond to call lights promptly and address residents' needs or escalate as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service with tactful and appropriate communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
