Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Aide I to support residents in the Carolinas Rehabilitation unit. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, hygiene, and basic medical procedures under RN supervision.

Day shift 0645-1915 with holiday and weekend rotation; full-time status and benefits eligible. Requires Nurse Aide I certification, High School Diploma or GED, and BLS training; EMS oversight may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for new hires on or after 7/22/2018.
• Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I.
• American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support HealthCare Provider certification.
• Nurse Aide I+4 Course required: E-learning and instructor-led skills practice.
• Observation activities required; validated twice by an RN before independent performance.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.
• Assists patients/residents with personal hygiene.
• Takes vital signs and height/weight measurements.
• Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to procedures.
• Maintains patient/resident rooms in a clean, orderly condition.
• Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
• Instructs patients and families on safety measures.
• Performs clerical tasks and maintains medical records.
• Manages inventory and stock items.
• Performs Nurse Aide I tasks and advanced duties per NCBON scope.

Pay Range

$19.80 - $29.70

Essential Functions

• Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.


• Assists patients/residents with personalhygiene.


• Takes vital signs and height and weightmeasurements.


• Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to specificprocedures.


• Maintains patient/resident's rooms in a clean and orderlycondition.


• Observes and reports changes in patient/residentconditions.


• Orients patients/families to unit and instructs patient on safetymeasures.


• Assists with clerical work such as, including answering phones, entering data andmaintaining medicalrecords.


• Maintains stock supply items in inventorymanagement.


• Performs duties as outlined in the scope of Nurse Aide I (per applicable state Board of Nursing Nurse Aide I TasksList).


• Perform technical tasks with appropriate training such as administering a 12-Lead Electrocardiogram test and routinevenipuncture.


• Trained in the following additional tasks, as outlined by the applicable state Board of Nursing (NCBON) Nurse Aide I+4 process:


• Nutrition Activities


• Oxygen Therapy


• Peripheral IV Fluids


• Urinary Catheter


• Sterile Technique (*Additional requirement per NCBON for Peripheral IV and Urinary Catheter skills)

Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms. Must have manual and finger dexterity. Physical abilities testing required.

Education, Experience and Certifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for new hires on or after 7/22/2018.


• Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I.


• Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support HealthCare Provider certification.


• Nurse Aide I+4 Course required: E-learning and instructor‑led skills practice.


• Required observation activities.


• Must be validated twice by an RN on each skill before they can perform independently.
