Job Summary

The Nurse Aide/Healthcare Technician assists in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, safe environment and performing duties in a safe manner. The role also involves maintaining clinical and professional competencies relevant to the patient population served.

Essential Functions

  • Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.
  • Assists with personal hygiene, vital signs, and measurements.
  • Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to procedures.
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient/resident rooms.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
  • Orients patients and families to the unit and instructs on safety measures.
  • Assists with clerical tasks such as answering phones, entering data, and maintaining records.
  • Manages inventory of supplies.
  • Performs duties outlined in Nurse Aide I or II scope as per North Carolina regulations.
  • Performs technical tasks like administering 12-Lead ECG and routine venipuncture with proper training.

Physical Requirements

Work involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting (up to 35 pounds), reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must speak and understand English clearly, possess manual dexterity, and pass physical abilities testing.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry (Nurse Aide I) or North Carolina Board of Nursing (Nurse Aide II).
  • BLS certification required.

Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles and skills appropriate to the ages, cultures, and needs of the patient population.
