Job Summary

The Nurse Aide/Healthcare Technician assists in providing patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, maintaining a safe environment and performing responsibilities suited to patient needs.

Essential Functions

• Support patients with daily activities.
• Assist with personal hygiene.
• Take vital signs, height, and weight.
• Feed and ambulate patients as per procedures.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Observe and report condition changes.
• Orient patients and families, and instruct on safety.
• Perform clerical duties like answering phones, data entry, and record maintenance.
• Manage inventory of supplies.
• Perform tasks outlined for Nurse Aide I or II as per North Carolina regulations.
• Perform technical tasks such as ECGs and venipuncture with proper training.

Physical Requirements

Work involves walking, standing, lifting up to 35 pounds, and other physical activities. Must speak and understand English clearly and have manual dexterity. Physical abilities testing is required.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current listing as Nurse Aide I or II with North Carolina registry or nursing board.
• BLS certification required.

Knowledge of growth, development, and skills appropriate to the patient’s age, culture, and needs.

Protected Health Information

• Limit access to PHI as necessary.
• Share PHI only on a need-to-know basis.
• Access to PHI is controlled by user ID and password.
