Description

Overview

Nurse Aide in Training is a program that allows the employee to receive online and on-the-floor training as a Nurse Aide. Those who provide good customer service, are reliable, team players, and have a strong work ethic will become eligible for Education Assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Education Assistance will be provided at NO COST through classes on or offsite at a Regency location, a local program offered by a community college or technical school, or an internship with a waiver to skip the class if the employee can pass a skills check and practice exam.

What does a Nurse Aide and CNA do in skilled nursing?

The Nurse Aide and CNA work under the direction of Charge Nurses to assist residents with activities of daily living as outlined in their care plans. They must be compassionate, friendly, and enjoy helping others to provide the expected level of personal care.

Essential Functions

  • Provide residents with comfort and safety, detecting and reporting situations that may cause accidents or injuries.
  • Carry out duties according to resident care policies and procedures.
  • Assist with bathing, feeding, dressing, observing food intake, hair and nail care, moving residents, lifting, and transferring.
  • Log care provided into Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents' conditions.
  • Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
  • Walk with ambulatory residents or push wheelchairs as required.
  • Perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting over 50 pounds with or without accommodations.
  • Respond to call lights promptly and address residents' needs or seek assistance.
  • Provide good customer service with tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
