Job description

As a Nurse Aide for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will help create a comfortable and supportive environment for residents at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. This role allows you to build strong connections with veterans and their spouses while supporting their daily well-being. This role focuses on providing direct support and non-professional nursing care for residents in a respectful and organized environment. The position supports licensed professionals and helps ensure residents receive safe, attentive, and consistent care. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Resident Support: Assist residents with daily living tasks including bathing, grooming, toileting, transfers, and meals, while helping maintain comfort and dignity
• Care Monitoring:Observe resident conditions, report changes to nursing staff, answer call bells, and participate in shift reports
• Safety Assistance:Apply safety devices, gather vital data, support mobility needs, and ensure resident areas remain hazard free
• Room Maintenance: Maintain tidy resident spaces, change linens, organize supplies, and support admissions or room changes
• Documentation: Record all provided care and services to comply with regulatory and facility requirements
• Team Collaboration: Maintain positive working relationships, follow established procedures, and participate in staff training and improvement efforts

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and holidays. You will be required to work every other weekend.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,171.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
