Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Military and Veterans Affairs seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the southeastern Veterans Home. You will provide compassionate, safe nursing care to veterans and their spouses as part of a respectful team.

Responsibilities include assisting the RN with health assessments, administering medications, observing residents, coordinating care, and maintaining infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• If holding a temporary practice permit, must obtain full LPN licensure within 1 year.
• PA residency requirement is waived for this title.

• Safety and Hygiene: Ensure residents are clean, safe, and well groomed while supporting infection control practices.
• Specialized Care: Provide focused care for residents in specialty units such as Alzheimer care.

This position helps ensure that residents receive consistent, safe, and respectful nursing care in a supportive environment. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

• Health Assessment Support: Assist the RN by checking resident health status and ensuring accurate and confidential documentation
• Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments, verify pharmacy orders, and maintain accurate records

Work Hours and Additional Information:

• Part-time employment; 8hrs per day, 40hrs biweekly
• Positions are available on the following shifts:
  • 2nd shift - 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
  • 3rd shift - 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Rotating schedules and also works every other weekend.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly salary of $33.03 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
