Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX is seeking a Nurse Transfer Center Coordinator to coordinate the direct admission process and support Service Excellence. This role collaborates with admitting physicians, Nursing, and the business office to optimize bed assignment and patient flow.

The ideal candidate is a Texas-licensed RN with in-hospital clinical experience, strong decision-making, and solid computer skills.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Texas.
• Previous in-hospital clinical experience is required.
• Independent decision making and organizational skills.
• Computer experience required.
• Manager/Supervisor experience desirable.
• Previous public contact work is recommended.
• Typing/keyboard skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with admitting Physicians, Nursing, Transfer Center and business office admitting personnel to perform bed assignment/placement.
• Obtains, documents and facilitates physician admitting orders complying with standards.
• Collaborates with admitting physicians to ensure appropriate patient placement.
• Facilitate through-put by using triage and critical thinking skills.
• Follows policies and procedures for coordinating patient admissions.
• Performs phone and computer functions and completes logs/orders/forms for admissions/discharges/transfers.
• Cross-train to other duties as deemed by Supervisor/Director.
• Accept additional duties as assigned.
• Participates in quality improvement for the Department and Institution.
• Assumes responsibility for budget impact related to department operations.
