Responsibilities

• The Access Coordinator RN is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and overseeing patient placement and hospital bed utilization to ensure safe, efficient patient flow across the organization.
• This role serves as the central point of communication for admissions, transfers, discharges, and interdepartmental coordination, ensuring optimal use of hospital capacity while maintaining regulatory compliance and high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or compact license eligible to practice in Texas.
• Minimum of 3‑5 years of acute care nursing experience, preferably in emergency, critical care, house supervision, or patient flow roles.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Previous experience in bed management, house supervision, transfer center, or patient access coordination.
• Knowledge of utilization management and capacity analytics.
• Familiarity with EMTALA requirements and patient placement regulations.
• Experience using electronic bed management systems and electronic health records (EHR).
