Job summary

SMITH STEM ACADEMY in Victoria, Texas is seeking a Nurse for 1:1 special education support to assist a student with highly complex medical needs during the school day. The LVN must hold Texas licensure, CPR, and vision/hearing/spinal certifications.

Two years of pediatric nursing or community health experience are preferred. Compensation ranges from $29 to $38.91 per hour and work is part-time with immediate start.

Primary Purpose:

To provide safe, direct services to an assigned student with highly-complex medical needs so that he/she is able to consistently access educational services.

Qualification Guidelines:

Education/Certifications:

Licensed Vocational Nurse with valid Texas license

Vision, Hearing, and Spinal Screening certification

CPR certification

Experience:

Two years of experience in Community Health and/or Pediatric Nursing (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of the nursing process

Excellent communication skills

Ability to problem-solve and use a computer

Knowledge of school law relating to health services and special education

Willing to obtain Tracheostomy Care Training (including suctioning) and Tube Feeding Training
