Job summary

Barrington Public Schools is hiring a One-to-One Nurse to provide dedicated nursing support for a medically fragile student throughout the school day and during transport. The nurse will implement seizure precautions, monitor G-tube, and assist the classroom team in achieving educational and therapeutic goals.

Requirements include a BSN and RI RN license, pediatric nursing experience preferred, and current CPR/AED/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing support to a medically fragile student during school hours.

• Support the classroom and therapy goals alongside teachers.
• Assist with transitions, safety and independence during the school day.
• Support transportation and bus routines for the student.

TITLE: One to One Nurse

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION:

• BSN from an accredited school /program
• Current license as a Registered Nurse by the RI Department of Health
• Documented experience as a Nurse; (Pediatric experience preferred)
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Director of Pupil Personnel and RI Department of Health JOB GOAL: Provide nursing support to a medically fragile student throughout the school day and during transport to and from school.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Seizure precautions (Myoclonic seizures)
• G-tube monitoring
• Cueing on task
• Transitioning
• Navigation
• Safety and Independence
• Drill and Practice
• Adaptive equipment
• Assistive technology
• Carryover of educational and therapy goals
• Assist the classroom teacher and special education teacher with educational instruction for the student
• Riding the school bus to and from school
