Position Description:

Duties: Duties include but are not limited to: administering injections and medications, maintaining appropriate records, drawing blood, carrying out treatments as ordered by a physician, ordering medication and maintaining inventory, maintaining inmate medical records, coordinating medical appointments, coordinating special diets with kitchen staff, and any other duties assigned by supervisory staff.

Brief Description:

Summary: This employment classification identifies immediate and potential medical health problems through physical assessment and screening of medical complaints, presenting inmates requiring further diagnosis and therapeutic procedures to the physician.

Job Prerequisites:

Minimum Qualifications: LPN candidates must have graduated from an approved LPN school with six months of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. RN candidates must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a two-year college or technical school and six months of related experience and/or training or a combination of education and experience.
