Job summary

Selah House Indiana is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive medical care for adolescent and adult women in an inpatient, residential setting. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, you will review orders, administer medications, collect labs, and maintain safe, sanitary nursing stations while supporting clients during intake and treatment.

Requirements include ADN or BSN, Indiana RN or LPN license, and a minimum of 1 year hospital experience; psychiatric nursing experience

Qualifications

  • ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred; psychiatric experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive nursing assessments at intake to inform treatment plans.
  • Review physician orders and medical records; administer and refill medications per orders.
  • Document accurately and maintain secure medical records and logs.
  • Collect labs and report findings to Medical Director.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary nurses' station and ensure universal precautions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support clients and staff as needed.
  • Participate in staff trainings and discharge planning as required.

Reviews physician’s orders and medical records of clients.Administers medications, ordering/refilling medications per physician’s orders.Records complaints, observes behaviors and reports these to the Medical Director.Collects labs, reviews lab reports and records and reports findings to the Medical Director.Assists new clients with adapting to their new environment, providing social and emotional support throughout their stay, while maintaining appropriate personal/professional interaction. Assists all clients and staff in immediate problem solving/intervention during crisis.Updates and reviews client’s treatment plans and privileges list on a weekly basis.Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the Nurses’ Stations and practicing universal precautions.Responsible for the security of the medications and medical records and ensures that only relevant providers will have access.Determines the presence of unhealthy/unsafe conditions in the work area and reports these conditions to the proper personnel.Ensures that proper documentation is completed in an accurate, thorough and timely manner and that communication logs are read and completed daily.Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and leads Health and Wellness group as needed.Responsible for understanding and adhering to all policies and procedures relating to medical interventions (e.g. Medication Error Reporting, Ancillary Services, etc.).Provides shift coverage protocols, ensuring that proper coverage is maintained, while providing quality care to our clients.Responsible for proper and accurate shift hand-off information between shifts.Assists with the daily teaching and discharge planning of the clients and documenting accordingly.Assists in developing new and creative marketing strategies and presenting those strategies to the Executive Director for review. Participates in marketing opportunities as needed.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Selah House’s mission and population.ISJP123What We Are Seeking:Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of Nursing or higher; Current Indiana Nursing License (RN or LPN); 1 year clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred.
