Job summary

Black Diamond of Cincinnati is seeking a Wildlife Technician to inspect properties, identify nuisance wildlife activity, and determine the best control, trapping, exclusion, or removal methods.

You will set and monitor traps, perform exclusion work to prevent future intrusion, and complete minor repairs as needed. Clear communication with customers and accurate service records are essential.

Responsibilities


  • Inspect residential and commercial properties to identify nuisance wildlife activity, entry points, damage, and conditions contributing to the problem.

  • Accurately identify wildlife species and determine the most appropriate control, trapping, exclusion, or removal method.

  • Set, monitor, maintain, and remove traps in accordance with company procedures and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Safely and humanely capture, remove, relocate, or dispatch nuisance wildlife as permitted by law.

  • Perform animal exclusion work, including sealing entry points and installing materials designed to prevent future wildlife intrusion.

  • Complete minor repairs associated with wildlife entry and damage when required.

  • Inspect attics, crawlspaces, roofs, basements, chimneys, exterior structures, and other areas where wildlife may enter or harbor.

  • Identify and safely address situations involving raccoons, squirrels, opossums, skunks, groundhogs, birds, bats, snakes, and other nuisance animals.

  • Communicate inspection findings, service recommendations, preparation requirements, and follow-up needs clearly and professionally to customers.

  • Prepare accurate estimates and identify opportunities for exclusion, sanitation, repair, and other appropriate services.

  • Maintain complete and accurate service records, including trap locations, animal activity, photographs, materials used, and services performed.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.

  • Maintain assigned company vehicles, tools, traps, ladders, and equipment in a clean, safe, and organized condition.

  • Participate in an on-call or rotating weekend schedule when needed for trap checks, emergencies, or time-sensitive animal concerns.

  • Provide professional, courteous service while representing Black Diamond and protecting the customer’s property.


Requirements


  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain all licenses, certifications, and permits required to perform nuisance wildlife control services.

  • Ability to safely handle live and deceased animals, traps, animal waste, unpleasant odors, and potentially hazardous conditions.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, crawlspaces, and other areas that may be hot, cold, dirty, or difficult to access.

  • Ability to work at heights and safely use ladders and other required equipment.

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and standing.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and comply with all safety, animal-handling, and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong observation, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills.

  • Professional appearance and effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with customers, office staff, and management.

  • Must successfully complete any required background check, motor vehicle review, drug screening, or company training.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience in nuisance wildlife control, pest control, animal handling, construction, roofing, property maintenance, or a related field.

  • Current Nuisance Wild Animal Control Operator license or other applicable wildlife-control certification.

  • Knowledge of common nuisance wildlife species, behavior, biology, nesting habits, and entry patterns.

  • Experience with trapping, humane removal, exclusion work, structural repairs, sanitation, and damage prevention.

  • Experience inspecting roofs, attics, crawlspaces, chimneys, soffits, vents, and foundations.

  • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal wildlife regulations.

  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and wildlife-control equipment.

  • Customer-service, sales, or estimating experience.

  • Knowledge of zoonotic diseases, wildlife-related health risks, and appropriate personal protective equipment.
