Responsibilities

  • Review existing SRS Engineering Standards, Engineering Guides, and related technical documents.
  • Develop, revise, and transition engineering standards and guidance for use within the organization.
  • Evaluate technical requirements and applicable national consensus codes and standards.
  • Ensure engineering requirements are clearly and consistently incorporated into standards and guidance documents.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, Design Authorities, System Engineers, facility organizations, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation and communicate engineering requirements to affected organizations.

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Nuclear Standards Engineer opportunity to support engineering programs at the Savannah River Site (SRS).

Position Description

This position will support the development and implementation of an engineering standards program for a DOE nuclear organization at the Savannah River Site. The selected candidate will work with existing SRS Engineering Standards, Engineering Guides, and related technical documents to develop organization-specific engineering standards and guidance.

The ideal candidate will be a senior nuclear design engineer with strong knowledge of national consensus codes and standards, significant experience working within nuclear facility engineering programs, and the ability to translate established technical requirements into clear, usable engineering standards.

Responsibilities
  • Review existing SRS Engineering Standards, Engineering Guides, and related technical documents.
  • Develop, revise, and transition engineering standards and guidance for use within the organization.
  • Evaluate technical requirements and applicable national consensus codes and standards.
  • Ensure engineering requirements are clearly and consistently incorporated into standards and guidance documents.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, Design Authorities, System Engineers, facility organizations, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams supporting engineering program development and implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline engineering processes.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation and communicate engineering requirements to affected organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of nuclear experience.
  • At least 5 years of nuclear facility design experience utilizing national consensus codes and standards.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant engineering experience at the Savannah River Site, particularly Liquid Waste facilities or operations.
  • Experience developing or revising engineering standards, design criteria, engineering guides, or similar technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear engineering design processes and applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with engineering process improvement and optimization.
  • Local to the Aiken/SRS area or able to work onsite as required.
Other Job Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
