Job summary

NextEra Energy Resources, LLC is seeking a Nuclear Simulator Software Engineering Analyst Senior for the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo, Iowa. This on-site role focuses on reliability of the simulator and training devices, spanning power systems, DCS/IO, OS/automation, networking, and change control.

You will collaborate with training, operations and vendors, perform trend analyses, troubleshoot, and prepare engineering documents to industry standards.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or GED required.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
• 4+ years of overall experience in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years nuclear engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization.
• Works independently regarding technical matters pertaining to area of expertise.
• Evaluates, monitors and conducts trend analyses on the performance of assigned nuclear systems.
• Troubleshoots systems, performs predictive and root cause analysis, and initiates corrective action.
• Designs, performs and verifies analysis of preventive maintenance programs of assigned systems.
• Prepares and reviews complex engineering documents using nuclear industry standards and regulations.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Position Specific Description

The Nuclear Simulator Software Engineering Analyst Senior is the technical owner for the reliability, availability, fidelity, and lifecycle of the Duane Arnold Simulator and associated training devices, delivering standards-compliant, deterministic, and resilient platforms that support operator training and NRC exam readiness. This role spans power systems, DCS/IO, OS/automation, networking, and configuration control, and operates at an analyst level with deep hands‑on technical expertise.

This is an on-site, hands‑on role at the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo, Iowa. The incumbent collaborates closely with training, operations, engineering, IT/OT, and vendors in a safety- and compliance‑focused environment. The role requires occasional after‑hours support, participation in witnessed drills.

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

• Associate's in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent military training/experience
• Engineering or related technical experience: 4+ years
• Completion of approved industry training (e.g., EPRI, NACE, ASME) in area of expertise
• Comprehension of engineering principles and theories as they relate to Engineering Technology and to power plant systems, components and structures
• Experience developing ability to provide standards, design and functional requirements

Nuclear Specific Preferences

• Bachelor's in Engineering Technology or related technical field
