Job summary

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) invites applications for the Resident Inspector Development Program (RIDP) across Region I–IV.

Selected candidates will undergo formal training to become NRC Inspectors and perform inspections of licensee activities to ensure safety and conformance with NRC requirements. Positions require relocation to Region offices (King of Prussia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Naperville, IL; Arlington, TX) and successful completion of the IMC 1245 process within two years;

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience demonstrating knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices.
  • Recent experience applying professional engineering disciplines (nuclear, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, structural, chemical).
  • Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate activities, develop inspection findings, and assess corrective actions.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Provide details in resume address specialized experience and ideal candidate criteria.
  • Willingness to mobility to multiple regions and sign Mobility Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in formal classroom training to gain full NRC Inspector certification.
  • Assess licensee performance and conduct direct inspections during operation.
  • Plan, prepare, and perform in-depth inspections during start-up, operation, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure inspection program completion per Inspection Manual and official documents.
  • Prepare and present inspection reports describing findings and conclusions.
  • Assist Branch Chief in handling and tracking allegations.
