Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a Research Engineering/ Scientist Associate II to support the UT TRIGA reactor and related lab activities on the Pickle Research Campus. You will assist with maintenance, instrumentation, and experimental operations under the supervision of the reactor team.

Qualified candidates hold advanced degrees in engineering or physical sciences and may qualify as a reactor operator within a year. Strong teamwork, communication, and safety are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Masters or a Bachelor's with relevant experience in engineering/physical sciences.
• Ability to qualify as reactor operator within 1 year of hire.
• Strong time management and prioritization in dynamic environments.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with clear written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain NRC reactor operator license for safe reactor operation.
• Operate overhead crane and overhead platform.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and reactor instrumentation.
• Assist in design, fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
• Carry out duties related to experiments at the UT TRIGA reactor.
• Support operations of a research reactor.
