Job summary

Navarro Research and Engineering is seeking a Readiness Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Oak Ridge, TN, to provide senior technical support to the Y-12 Readiness Assurance program and ensure startup readiness for assigned projects.

The ideal candidate will apply nuclear engineering, operations, and safety expertise to evaluate evidence, plan readiness reviews, and defend readiness determinations in alignment with DOE orders and CNS/Y-12 procedures.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Nuclear Engineering or a similar technical field.
• 7+ years of experience leading or supporting readiness efforts resulting in Startup Authorization.
• U.S. citizen with an active DOE Q clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
• Ability to support Y-12 National Security Complex readiness assurance activities for projects subject to DOE Order 425.1D.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support readiness assurance efforts that result in Startup Authorization for assigned Y-12 projects.
• Evaluate technical evidence, procedures, safety basis implementation, equipment readiness, training records, operating documentation, and other readiness artifacts against applicable DOE readiness requirements.
• Apply readiness review methodologies to complex projects involving nuclear operations, engineering, safety systems, and operational controls.
• Advise project teams on readiness gaps, corrective actions, evidence of quality, regulatory alignment, and defensible readiness determinations.
• Support planning and conduct of readiness reviews consistent with DOE Order 425.1D, DOE Standard 3006-2010, DOE-HDBK-3012-2003, and applicable procedures.
• Coordinate with project leadership, engineering, operations, nuclear safety, training, quality, and contractor personnel to support startup readiness outcomes.
• Comply with all site quality assurance, security, information protection, safety, training, badging, and site conduct requirements.
