Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Nuclear Reactor Engineer and Operator to operate and maintain nuclear reactor facilities, including the Annular Core Research Reactor and the Critical Experiments Reactor, ensuring safety and compliance.

You will perform reactor engineer/operator duties, assist with experiment packages, and present technical reports. The role requires US citizenship and DOE security clearance, with on-site work required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree with 4+ years relevant experience or Navy Nuclear Power School with 4+ years experience.
• Experience at a nuclear reactor facility in operations/maintenance.
• Within one year from date of hire, you must certify Reactor Operator per Facility Operations Staff Training and Certification Requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform Reactor Engineer/Operator duties, including operating a reactor as a certified Reactor Operator.
• Help prepare and handle experiment packages, possibly involving crane operations.
• Maintain and repair reactor systems and support equipment, possibly forklift operations.
• Support experiment plan development and execution at nuclear facilities and reactors.
• Ensure operations align with a strong nuclear safety culture and effective decision-making.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations for professional organizations and user groups.

Education

Associates degree + 4 years relevant experience or Navy Nuclear Power School + 4 years relevant experience

Masters' degree in a STEM discipline
