Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital seeks a Nuclear Radiology Generalist to join our fast-paced imaging team. You will integrate radiologic science with patient care to produce diagnostic information, ensuring accurate positioning and adherence to radiation safety standards.

The role requires formal radiology training and specific certifications (CMRT, CT-ARRT, CNMT or N-ARRT). You will collaborate with radiologists, clinicians, and the imaging team to provide compassionate, precise imaging and education

Qualifications

• Technical diploma from a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
• CMRT and CT-ARRT certifications required for Houston staff by Sep 3, 2025 or within 18 months of entry.
• CNMT or N-ARRT required for staff.
• Familiarity with EPIC and PACS for data entry and image management.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and protective measures.

Responsibilities

• Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure; such as medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation or artifacts
• Provides information to patients, health care providers, students and the public concerning the role and responsibilities of individuals in the profession
• Applies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others
• Performs high quality imaging procedures and uses shielding to protect patient and staff
• Maintains precise data entry and image management in EPIC and PACS
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency and initiates emergency procedures
• Participates in continuing education and departmental trainings
• Builds rapport and coordinates communication within the department

In this position, you will integrate scientific knowledge; technical skills, patient interaction and compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. The Generalist must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. Nuclear Radiology Generalist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and technique. They must possess, utilize, maintain and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients and others. The Nuclear Radiology Generalist prepares, administers and document activities related to mediations in accordance with state regulations and institution policy. The Generalist is a liaison between patients, radiologist and other members of the support team.

Responsibilities

• Provides information to patients, health care providers, students and the public concerning the role and responsibilities of individuals in the profession
• Applies principles of ALARA, including use of technical factors according to technical specifications, to minimize exposure to patient, self and others
• Performs high quality imaging procedures: determines technical factors, identifies and removes artifact producing objects, and utilizes shielding devices to protect the patient, self and others
• Responsible for precise, complete and accurate data entry and image management in appropriate technology infrastructure: EPIC, PACS, etc.
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency, and initiates emergency procedures
• Participates and leads continuing education in-service programs, reads professional publications, reviews procedure manuals and attends trainings
• Builds rapport and facilitates communication inside the department: network coordinate activities, strive to become a contact person within your workgroup

Skills & Requirements

Technical diploma Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program required

CMRT - Cert Med Radiologic Techngst by the Texas Medical Board AND CT-ARRT - ARRT RegTech Comp Tomography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required for staff employed in Houston: to be completed by September 3, 2025, or within 18 months of entry into role, whichever is later. For Staff employed in Austin: to be completed by March 3, 2027, or within 18 months of entry into role, whichever is later.

CNMT - Cert-Cert Nuclear Medical TECH NMTCB required OR N-ARRT - ARRT RegTech by the Nuclear Med Tech American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
