Job summary

EPRI is seeking a Nuclear Quality Technical Leader II to provide technical oversight and leadership ensuring quality, procurement, and regulatory compliance for safety-related items, materials, and services. You will drive adherence to ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and Part 21 reporting standards from the North Carolina Home Office.

The role requires independent work, advanced technical judgment, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, high-integrity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field required.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASME NQA-1 and NRC requirements.
  • Experience leading QA for nuclear projects and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the implementation of ASME NQA-1 to support QA compliance.
  • Lead evaluation processes for safety issues and Part 21 applicability.
  • Oversee CGD processes for safety-related applications.
  • Lead and review CARs/NCRs and approve dispositions.
  • Review supplier quality programs and CoC submittals.
  • Ensure safety-related procurement clauses flow-down to subcontractors.

Job Summary And Description

A Nuclear Quality Technical Leader bridges technical execution and regulatory compliance, ensuring that quality and procurement activities strictly adhere to ASME NQA-1 and NRC regulatory requirements.

Position Summary

The Nuclear Quality Technical Leader provides technical oversight and quality leadership to ensure safety-related items, materials, and services comply with ASME NQA-1 requirements, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and 10 CFR Part 21 reporting standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • NQA-1 Quality Program Execution: Direct the implementation of ASME NQA-1 (18 Requirements), supporting nuclear sector staff to comply with the Quality Assurance Program.
  • 10 CFR Part 21 Reporting & Evaluation: Lead evaluation processes for potential safety issues, defects, and nonconformances. Manage the technical assessment to determine potential Part 21 applicability.
  • 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Oversight: Serve as the technical authority ensuring project research and development aligns with 10 CFR 50, Appendix B criteria.
  • Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD): Oversee the CGD process for safety-related applications.
  • Nonconformance & CAP Management: Lead technical evaluations of Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and Nonconformance Reports (NCRs). Perform CAR review and closure, approve dispositions (Use-As-Is, Repair), and ensure preventative actions are appropriate.
  • Supplier Quality & Audits: Lead and support audits of suppliers. Review and approve vendor quality programs and Certificate of Conformance (CoC) submittals.
  • Procurement Review: Review safety-related procurement requisitions to ensure applicable quality clauses flow-down to subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities And Requirements
  • Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision.
  • Regularly demonstrates responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, and the use of creative and imaginative thinking is required.
  • Maintains familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas.
Additional Requirements
  • Has developed relationships with primary advisors to a research area.
  • Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
  • Effectively communicates strategies and results, expressing thoughts clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, to subject matter experts, program members and advisors through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
  • Regularly communicates and coordinates work activities across programs.
  • May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
  • Organizes the external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
  • Supports the planning and execution of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepares and presents research reports.
  • Manages small or medium (less complex) projects including budgets and resources without direct people management responsibilities.
  • Influences project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work.
  • Increased interactions and coordination of EPRI work with national and international technical networks (e.g, manufacturers, consultants, academia and research organizations)
  • Begins to lead proposal efforts and new promotional work.
  • Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities. This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
  • Continues to provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
Education

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $140,000 USD to $150,000 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
