Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an Intermediate Technician to perform measurements, documentation, and production oversight in an industrial environment after training. You will work with precision instruments and contribute to safety and reliability of naval reactors.

Responsibilities include inspecting components with CMMs and nondestructive testing tools, calibrating equipment, and maintaining qualifications while supporting lifting, welding, inspection, and fabrication activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an Associates degree with 2+ years, or Journeyman's papers with 2+ years, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator qualification with 2+ years, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Associates degree or Journeyman's papers are preferred.
  • Proficiency reading technical drawings and using CMM/optical measurement tools.
  • Experience in NDT methods (VT, PT, MT) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute work in an industrial environment with measurements, documentation of results, and oversight of production activities after training.
  • Inspect and record the adequacy of complex components using precision measurement devices and nondestructive testing techniques.
  • Support and identify discrepancies in lifting, welding, receipt inspection, source inspection, component fabrication and related tasks through surveillance and records.
  • Perform tool calibrations.
  • Use automatic data processing equipment to perform tasks and record results.
  • Maintain mandatory personnel qualifications by performing related duties as necessary.
