Job summary

Arizona Public Service is seeking a Nuclear Plant Operator for PVNGS. The role is field-based and requires completing qualification within the designated time, operating major and auxiliary plant equipment outside the Control Room, and maintaining awareness of procedures and radiation safety.

You will monitor instruments, communicate plant status to the Control Room, apply safety tagging and clearances, and support outage activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Completes qualification within assigned time frame.
• Operates major and auxiliary plant equipment outside Control Room in areas for which qualification is completed.
• Monitors, reads and records instruments and equipment outside Control Room; notifies Control Room Operator of problems.
• Communicates with the Control Room regarding plant status and conditions in areas with completed qualifications.
• Implements station safety tagging and clearance procedures to ensure safe working conditions.

Responsibilities

• Complete qualification to operate equipment within assigned time frame.
• Operates all major and auxiliary plant equipment outside Control Room in areas for which qualification is completed.
• Monitors, reads and records instruments and equipment outside Control Room; Notifies Control Room Operator of problems.
• Communicates with the Control Room regarding plant status and conditions on an ongoing basis in areas where qualifications have been completed.
• Implements station safety tagging and clearance procedures to ensure safe working conditions for personnel and equipment.
• Maintains awareness and understanding of plant procedures, government regulations, system operation and design changes, radiation hazards and handling of radioactive equipment in areas where qualifications have been completed.
• Maintains qualifications per PVNGS Training continuing training programs when qualifications are complete in one or more areas.

Education

Nuclear Navy Pipeline (6 years or more)

Nuclear Commercial Operator (>3 years)

Maritime Academy Engineer

Engineering Bachelor's Degree
