Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Nuclear Maintenance Planner I to support a major energy customer. This on-site role develops technical work package documents for maintenance at a commercial nuclear plant, from site walkdowns through package closeout.

The candidate will read and interpret P&IDs and drawings, coordinate clearances, partner with Radiation Protection, and help shape outage planning and scheduling. This W-2 contract requires 5+ years in nuclear operations or heavy industry, with readiness

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience in Operations, Maintenance, or Projects within commercial nuclear power or comparable heavy-industrial regulated environment.
  • Level 200 Qualifications held, or demonstrated ability to obtain them within the required timeframe following hire.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, electrical one-lines, elementaries, wiring/logic diagrams, technical specifications, and vendor manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and issue work package documents for corrective, preventive, surveillance, and modification-support maintenance on plant mechanical, electrical, and I&C equipment.
  • Perform detailed job site walkdowns prior to planning; validate as-found equipment configuration against controlled drawings and identify access constraints, scaffolding/insulation needs, rigging and lifting plans, staging, and foreign material exclusion boundaries.
  • Write clear, sequential task instructions including hold points, quality control inspection points, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate clearance and tagout boundaries with Operations; confirm system alignment and Technical Specification implications.
  • Partner with Radiation Protection on radiation work permits, dose estimates, and ALARA planning.
  • Determine post-maintenance test and retest requirements with System Engineering and Operations.
  • Estimate craft resources, durations, and job sequencing to support the integrated work schedule.
  • Identify, reserve, and stage parts, materials, test equipment, and special tools.
  • Participate in outage scope screening, milestone reviews, and readiness walkdowns; support outage execution in the field.

Location: Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland, or Upstate New York (on-site at an assigned nuclear generating station; occasional travel to other fleet sites during outages)

Employment type: W-2 Contract, (40 hrs/week)

Pay Rate- $95-100/hr.

About the Role

Brooksource is hiring a Nuclear Maintenance Planner I to support an energy customer, one of the largest operator of nuclear generating stations in the United States. This planner role responsible for developing the technical work package documents that authorize maintenance work at a commercial nuclear plant — from job site walkdown through package closeout.

Primary Duties / Essential Functions
  • Develop, revise, and issue work package documents for corrective, preventive, surveillance, and modification-support maintenance on plant mechanical, electrical, and I&C equipment.
  • Perform detailed job site walkdowns prior to planning; validate as-found equipment configuration against controlled drawings and identify access constraints, scaffolding/insulation needs, rigging and lifting plans, staging, and foreign material exclusion boundaries.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 5+ years of related experience in Operations, Maintenance, or Projects within commercial nuclear power or a comparable heavy-industrial regulated environment.
  • Level 200 Qualifications held, or demonstrated ability to obtain them within the required timeframe following hire.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, electrical one-lines, elementaries, wiring/logic diagrams, technical specifications, and vendor manuals.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance work control, clearance/tagout, and procedure use in a regulated generating environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access (background screening, psychological assessment, Fitness for Duty program), and to complete radiation worker/respiratory protection qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or an associate degree in a technical discipline.
  • Prior qualified planner experience at a commercial nuclear station, or journeyman craft experience as a mechanic, electrician, or I&C technician.
  • U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program background, or prior Operations qualification (Non-Licensed Operator, Reactor Operator, Senior Reactor Operator).
  • Hands-on proficiency with Asset Suite/Passport, SAP, Maximo, or Primavera P6.
  • Working knowledge of INPO AP-928 Work Management, AP-913 Equipment Reliability, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, or ASME NQA-1.
