Nuclear Operations Technician I or Nuclear Operations Technician II - McGuire Nuclear Station

Join us for the Nuclear Operations Technician I or II role at Duke Energy Corporation.

Position Overview

Anticipated start date: July 14th. The role involves performing surveillances, operating valves and equipment, and supporting plant safety and operations. Onsite work is required, with shift work, overtime, and exposure to industrial environments.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the station Fire Brigade
  • Report system and component status using computerized rounds
  • Start and stop plant equipment as per procedures
  • Test and check system operability
  • Isolate and restore equipment as needed
  • Perform outdoor surveillance year-round, day and night shifts
Training and Advancement

Work towards licensing as a Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator through formal training and exams, with a typical progression over five years.

Working Conditions
  • Shift work, frequent overtime, including weekends and holidays
  • Work in high-temperature, high-humidity environments with protective gear
  • Physical activities include climbing, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds
Qualifications

  • Experience with nuclear licensing, military nuclear experience, engineering or technical degrees
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Nuclear Navy or commercial nuclear power experience
