Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) shall administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients to enhance the evaluation of physiologic processes at a molecular level. The NMT is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients requiring medical imaging services, following department policies and standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures.
  2. Checks the technical quality of data, submits for interpretation, and discusses findings with Radiologist.
  3. Enters exam data on forms/computer screens as per protocols.
  4. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and orders additional isotopes as needed.
  5. Ensures security in the receipt, transport, and storage of medications, including IV solutions.
  6. Performs quality control procedures on pharmacy and imaging equipment regularly, per licensing and departmental protocols.
  7. Records patient history and documents for Radiologist.
  8. Explains procedures to patients.
  9. Maintains required continuing education credits per licensing and registry requirements.
  10. Participates in research and development of new methodologies.
  11. Maintains records, logs, and documentation as required.
  12. Participates in on-call rotations.
  13. Strives for excellence in service as per CARE Manual.
  14. Responds to hospital codes: Code Red, Code Pink, etc.
  15. Upholds honest behavior, complies with all relevant laws and regulations.
  16. Maintains confidentiality and security of protected health information.
