This role involves performing quality control on all nuclear medicine equipment, maintaining the radiopharmaceutical laboratory, and performing dose calculations and administration for patients requiring nuclear medicine procedures. The role requires adherence to all clinic and state laws concerning radiation, as well as patient interaction, explanation of procedures, counseling, and assistance.

Education

Required: High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required: None

Certifications

Required: Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), Current State of Louisiana Nuclear Medicine Technologist License, Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency with Windows applications, data entry, and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with patients and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

  • Ensure safe and effective medical examinations.
  • Communicate with patients and staff via telephone and computer.
  • Complete medical/legal documentation accurately.
  • Perform quality control on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals, administer correct doses.
  • Maintain required knowledge, skills, training, and credentials.
