Job Details

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist conducts nuclear medicine procedures using imaging equipment and radioactive materials to assist in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Responsible for radiation safety, quality control procedures, and delivering patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Description

  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in accordance with Jefferson's values.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging examinations and dynamic tests, such as radionuclide angiocardiography and coronary artery imaging studies.
  • Prepare and administer radioactive agents, adhering to established procedures for kit preparation and IV injections to ensure accurate diagnostics.
  • Set up equipment and appropriately position patients to follow protocols, ensure cooperation, and achieve optimal results.
  • Maintain daily logs of radionuclide doses administered, tests performed, diagnoses, and other pertinent information, complying with State and NRC regulations.
  • Calibrate and check equipment; perform scheduled cleaning and tests; document results; contact service personnel and notify supervision of malfunctions.
  • Implement radiation safety guidelines and conduct proper radiation protection during imaging procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control tasks.
  • Maintain continuing education required for licenses and job responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PACS systems

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Program or hold a current validated ARRT Registry in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a clinical nuclear medicine department preferred.

Minimum Certifications, Registration, or License Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • CNMT (ARRT or NMTCB)
