Summary

Performs nuclear medicine imaging and/or therapy in accordance with applicable standards, policies, values, and the organization's mission.

Responsibilities
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedures, analyzing images and resolving quality issues.
  • Manages radiation emergencies and monitors safety per radiation safety policies under the guidance of the radiation safety officer.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders; educates patients about procedures to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies, selects imaging parameters, and performs quality control on equipment.
  • Handles equipment malfunctions and reports as necessary; charges for supplies and uses appropriate exam codes.
  • Participates in on-call shifts as required; manages radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols and regulations; monitors patient condition continually.

Education and Certification Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program.
  • Certification: CRT, ARRT, NMTCB, BLS (various recognized certificates).
Additional Job Information

Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in stressful environments. No prior experience required if certified as CRT and ARRT or NMTCB. Must be certified and have graduated from an accredited program.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Includes physical activities such as bending, lifting, reaching, and standing; exposure to biological and chemical hazards; and working with radiation and mechanical equipment.
