Qualifications

Job Details

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist conducts nuclear medicine procedures using imaging equipment and radioactive materials to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Responsible for radiation safety and quality control procedures, and delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Performs diagnostic imaging examinations and dynamic tests, such as radionuclide angiocardiography and coronary artery imaging studies.
• Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to established procedures, including kit preparation and IV injection, to ensure accurate diagnostic testing/imaging.
• Sets up equipment and appropriately positions patients to ensure adherence to protocol, cooperation, and optimal results.
• Maintains daily logs of radionuclide doses administered and tests performed, along with relevant diagnosis information, complying with State and NRC regulations.
• Calibrates and checks all applicable equipment, maintains equipment through scheduled cleaning/tests, and reports malfunctions.
• Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection during procedures.
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance and control tasks.
• Maintains continuing education to meet licensing and job requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in a clinical nuclear medicine department preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• CNMT (ARRT or NMTCB)
