Job summary

Under the supervision of the diagnostic imaging services medical director and department director, the nuclear medicine technologist prepares, measures and administers radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic studies per physician orders and department policies and procedures. Performs and assists with nuclear medicine studies.

Is responsible for patient safety protocols. Maintains all federal, state, local and regulatory agency requirements and participates in CQI activities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from approved school of ARRTs with certification.
• Licensed in Diagnostic Radiology or Nuclear Medicine.
• Current BLS certification.
• Required to take call / standby in Nuclear Medicine and NNMC as needed.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, relaying and documenting verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
• Corroborating patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuing information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner.
• Applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
• Performing venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner
