Overview

Under general supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures with radioisotope and radiation detection methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Executes basic clinical competence in nuclear medicine technology across all locations, prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, processes data, and provides images and analysis to physicians for diagnostic interpretation.

• Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, meeting and maintaining all program standards and requirements.

• Applies knowledge of nuclear medicine principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, quality assurance, positioning and patient care skills, ensuring safety in storage and delivery of radiopharmaceuticals, and adhering to regulatory compliance standards.

• Documents accurate patient care activity in electronic health records.

• Maintains a safe and appropriate work environment, managing supplies and inventory, notifying colleagues when supplies need ordering, and reporting equipment or environmental issues per policy.

• Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives, workflow enhancements, patient experience projects, and educational activities.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation with a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
• Experience: 1+ years working in a nuclear medicine technologist role.
• Licensures/Certifications: Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT); Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist – State of MD; Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree.
• Experience: 2+ years in nuclear medicine setting.
• Licensures/Certifications: Approval letter from the State of MD Board to operate a CT/Nuclear Medicine Device for attenuation correction and anatomic localization; Licensed Radiographer – State of MD; Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NCT and/or PET.
