Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist I to perform radiopharmaceutical preparation, imaging and related tasks at the Main Campus. The role includes days with on-call responsibilities and involves direct patient interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine or graduate of an accredited allied health program or CNMT certification.
• ARRT (RT(N)) or CNMT credentialing in good standing.
• Current state licensure (RL).
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Perform elution of 99mTc generators and prepare radiopharmaceuticals per procedures.
• Carry out hot lab tasks and aseptic radiopharmaceutical preparation.
• Perform quality control of radiopharmaceuticals and kits.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals according to protocol with aseptic technique.
• Record documentation and verify patient/requisition data.
• Acquire, archive and transmit images via PACS and complete after-hours transmission as needed.

As Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will utilize the latest medical equipment and technology to attain functional images, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, and perform various non-imaging studies as necessary. In addition to working with complex apparatus, you will also spend a substantial amount of time interacting directly with both in- and outpatients, providing injections and scans. A caregiver in this position worksdays + on-call, 8:00am-4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform elution of 99mTc generators, prepare radiopharmaceuticals and ensure compliance with regulations and recommendations by state/federal regulatory and accreditation agencies.

• Perform hot lab responsibilities, such as elution of generator according to prescribed procedure and manufacturer specifications using aseptic technique.

• Perform elute quality control using aseptic technique.

• Perform radiopharmaceuticals kit preparations and quality control according to departmental procedure and manufacturer specifications using aseptic techniques.

• Label and record required documentation according to department procedures.

• Administer radiopharmaceuticals according to department protocol using aseptic technique in compliance with state/federal regulations and accreditation agencies.

• Ascertain correct patient, study and radiopharmaceuticals by checking patient ID, requisitions and radiopharmaceuticals label prior to radiopharmaceutical administration.

• Properly record pharmaceuticals.

• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.

• Ensure patient safety during and after exams.

• Assist with scheduling patients as needed.

• Perform venipuncture as necessary and maintain competencies.

• Perform quality control and assurance procedures.

• Perform daily, weekly, quarterly and annual procedures on dose calibrators, scintillation well counter and thyroid probes, and scintillation cameras.

• Identify, document and report sub-optimum results to supervisor.

• Adhere to Department of Health, TJC, and department regulations governing performance of above procedures.

• Maintain required record keeping and documentation for all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.

• Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.

• Process billing via RIS.

• Perform nuclear imaging/counting procedures according to department protocols and computer acquisition and analysis.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine or graduate of a two-year accredited school in an Allied Health Program or certification from a CAHEA approved Nuclear Medicine Technologist Training Program

• Registered Technologist credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T(N) (ARRT)] in good standing OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board

• Current state licensure (RL)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
• Requires exposure to radioactive material.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
