RWJ Somerset in Somerville, NJ, part of RWJBarnabas Health, is seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the Radiology-PET department. The role features a day shift, 40 hours per week, and a pay range of $51.36–$64.21 per hour.

External applicants may qualify for a $12,000 sign-on bonus. NJ state license, ARRT and/or NMTCB certification, and BLS are required. PET experience and hospital technologist background are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Must possess a current NJ State license, ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs hot lab functions following vendor, departmental and DEP rules.
• Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC on gamma cameras.
• Identifies IP and OP patients per hospital SOP.
• Explains procedures to patients and ensures comfort.
• Obtains optimal images using prescribed parameters.
• Ensures tests are performed properly with valid results prior to release.
• Assists the nuclear physician with special imaging procedures.
• Maintains a neat and clean department and supports overtime as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

Preferred:

• PET Experience a Plus
• Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Must possess a current NJ State license,ARRT and/or NMTCB
• BLS certification

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day Shift, 40 hours/week
• Full Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

• Performs all hot lab related functions such as receiving, using and discarding of Radio-pharmaceuticals following/applying vendor, departmental and DEP rules and regulations strictly,
• Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols and notifies the lead tech of any malfunctions/issues promptly,
• Identifies the patients both IP and OP per hospital SOP before starting any procedure
• Explains the procedure to the patient clearly including wait times and performs the procedure assuring maximum comfort to the patient,
• Obtains best possible images by using prescribed technical parameters and techniques
• Assures that all tests are performed properly and test results are valid and accurate prior to the release of the patient,
• Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures,
• Strives to maintain the department in a neat and clean condition
• Accepts special assignments from supervisor and completes them on time,
• Abides by standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies,
• Performs all duties in a friendly and courteous manner offering assistance to physicians, patients, families, visitors and co-workers,
• Extends courtesy and consideration to others in all interpersonal relationships, including telephone contacts,
• Demonstrates the ability to respond to instruction from peers or superiors in order to complete department tasks,
• Demonstrates the ability to determine the proper time to discuss differences in work strategy,
• Performs other departmental duties as prescribed by supervisory personnel,
• Works overtime when needed,
• Assists in the performances of non-technical tasks within the department,
• Performs other duties as needed,
