Job description

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Part-Time) in Staten Island.

Position Summary:
This role involves performing medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures under general supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of Service Standards and incorporate them into duties.
  2. Operate hospital and radiology information systems related to nuclear medicine, including patient data management and scheduling.
  3. Assess patient information and status, ensure correct patient identification, and follow established procedures and protocols.
  4. Implement patient procedures, explain procedures to patients, obtain consent, and ensure patient comfort and privacy.
  5. Verify radiopharmaceutical labels, calculate doses, and perform imaging procedures accurately.
  6. Assist physicians during procedures, ensure timely completion, and maintain equipment and work area.
  7. Collect specimens, process samples, and perform in-vivo and in-vitro procedures as required.
  8. Prepare radiopharmaceuticals, manage radioactive materials, and adhere to safety protocols.
  9. Dispose of radioactive waste safely and perform quality control on imaging systems.
  10. Maintain detailed records of procedures, doses, and safety checks.
  11. Set up and operate imaging equipment, perform maintenance, and report malfunctions.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree, completion of NMTCB-recognized program, and eligibility to take certification exam (NMTCB, ARRT, or NY State License).

Required Licenses: NMTCB Certification, NY Nuclear Medicine Technologist License, ARRT Certification.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in nuclear medicine technology.

Effective communication skills are essential.
