Job summary

Geisinger is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist responsible for administering ionizing and nonionizing radiation for diagnostics and treatment. This role will require preparing and administering medications, ensuring patient safety, and working in a clinical environment. A sign-on bonus of $7,500 is available for eligible candidates.

This position is regular with scheduled weekly hours of 40. Strong preference for those certified by NMTCB or ARRT-N and those with related experience.

Qualifications

• Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N) required upon hire.
• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program – Radiologic Technology (Required) or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred).

• Utilize imaging protocol while optimizing patient safety.
• Prepare administer medications as prescribed.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and positioning.

Job description

Job Summary

7,500 sign‑on bonus for eligible applicants. Nuclear Medicine Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation, nonionizing radiation, and adjunctive medications for diagnostic, therapeutic, radiotheranostic, or research purposes. They operate equipment used in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging to aid in diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment of various pathological conditions.

Job Duties

• Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA.
• Prepare and/or administer medications through new or existing vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality, verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, and perform post‑processing of data if applicable.
• Educate and monitor students and other health‑care providers.
• Assemble, calibrate, maintain, and administer radiopharmaceuticals while complying with standards and under the supervision of an authorized user.
• Perform hybrid imaging, including PET‑CT and SPECT‑CT, for emission, transmission, attenuation correction, anatomical location, and for use in radiation‑therapy treatment planning when performed within hybrid imaging.
• Perform nuclear medicine and molecular imaging procedures, radiotheranostics or therapies as prescribed by a licensed practitioner and under the supervision of an authorized user.
• Procure, identify, calculate, prepare and/or administer ionizing radiation and nonionizing radiation as prescribed and supervised.
• Perform work in a clinical environment and satisfy all job‑specific obligations and comply with organization policies and procedures.

• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program – Radiologic Technology (Required) or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred).
• Other licenses: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist – NMTCB, Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) – ARRT.
