Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to oversee imaging procedures under physician direction. You will operate nuc med equipment, calibrate devices, and adhere to radiation safety guidelines while maintaining QA/QC standards.

The role requires CNMT, ARRT certification, and a TMB license; BLS is required within 30 days of starting. Experience with Radiology Information System and CR/PACS is preferred; no travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) credential.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • TMB license required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises all technical aspects of nuclear medicine exams.
  • Perform QA/QC procedures as needed and assist in other department areas.
  • Operate nuc med equipment to image designated body portions and calibrate equipment.
  • Maintain radiopharmaceutical waste disposal and inventory control.
  • Ensure use of Radiology Information System and CR/PACS.
  • Adhere to safety and regulatory requirements and participate in continuous education.

Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of a qualified physician, directs and supervises all technical aspects of nuclear medicine exams for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. Performs QA/QC procedures when necessary. Helps in other areas of the department when necessary.

  • Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating nuc med equipment to make radiographs of designated body portions.
  • Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
  • Assist in or administer radiation to the patient; operate scanning devices; perform laboratory tests on body specimens; dispose of radioactive waste and store radiopharmaceutical waste safely.
  • Calibrate equipment; and control inventory.
  • Cleans, sterilizes and or disinfects areas and/or equipment.
  • Responsible for proper use of Radiology Information System.
  • Understands and uses CR/PACS systems. Shall be actively involved in the TQM process and present creative solutions to processes.
  • Maintains necessary continuing education requirements for license.
  • Demonstrates professional practice and conduct at all times.
  • Teamwork: Establishes clear objectives and goals for work team.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
